At exactly ten o’clock in the morning on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, His Beatitude Patriarch Mor Ignatius Youssef III Younan, Syriac Catholic Patriarch of Antioch, participated in the opening prayer of the meeting of the Council of Heads of Catholic Churches in Syria, which was being hosted by the Maronite Diocese of Latakia, in the Maronite Cathedral of Our Lady of the Annunciation. , Tartous.
His Beatitude Youssef Al-Absi, Patriarch of Antioch and All the East for the Greek Catholic Church, also participated in the opening prayer.
His Eminence Cardinal Mario Zenari, the Apostolic Nuncio to Syria, and Their Eminences the Bishops of the Catholic Churches in Syria.

Participating from our Syriac Catholic Church were their Eminences: Mar Dionysius Antoine Shahada, Archbishop of Aleppo, Mar John Jihad Battah, Archbishop of Damascus, Mar Yacoub Joseph Shimey, Archbishop of Hasakah and Nusaybin, Mor Yulian Yacoub Murad, Archbishop of Homs, Hama, and Nabek, as well as the Secretary of the  Council, father Amer Qassar. Monsignor Habib Murad, Patriarchal Custodian General and Secretary of the Patriarchate, and Father Saeed Massouh, Deputy Director of Our Lady of Deliverance Patriarchal Seminary in Al-Shorfa Monastery and curator of the monastery.
His Beatitude, our Father the Patriarch, together with all the participants, prayed for the blessing of the risen Lord Jesus and his care for this meeting, for the church and the believers in Syria, and for the gift of peace and security for the Holy Lands, Syria, the countries of the East and the world.
