Bishop Murad presides over the Resurrection Sunday mass in Fayrouzeh
For the sake of true peace in our hearts, our country, and the region, the Syriac Catholic Archbishop Mar Yulian Yacoub Murad, Archbishop of Homs, Hama, Nabek, and its environs, offered the prayer during his presidency of the Resurrection Sunday Mass in the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Fayrouzeh, with the participation of the parish priest, Father George Massouh, the diocesan priests, deacons, parish officials, and the faithful.
After the ritual of peace and readings, Bishop Murad read a speech in which he reflected on our painful reality in the light of the Resurrection. He stressed that in the face of this reality burdened with suffering, distress, poverty, famine, exploitation and wars in most countries of the world, we declare with Christian hope: Christ has risen. The only way to resurrection would not have been possible without the offering of Jesus on the cross in our place and for our salvation. In turn, our testimony of faith and calling is not complete if we do not sacrifice ourselves for the sake of others.
He pointed out that the church lives this testimony in a distinctive way, especially in the past years, as it was the mother, embrace, refuge, support, and comfort for its children at home and abroad, especially in this parish. This new edifice is nothing but a testimony to this great love, commitment and sacrifices of the parishioners, which resulted in unity among the people of the town regardless of their different affiliations, especially on Easter, which confirms that our faith is one and that no one divides us because Christ is the source of our unity.
He stressed that we are children of hope. We do not look at Christ crucified, but rather at the empty grave, which represents our hearts filled with God’s mercy, love, and tenderness. We do not surrender to despair, but rather we are freed from all fear and anxiety and set out to proclaim the good news of life and resurrection.
There was also a speech by Father George Massouh in which he thanked, on behalf of the parish, all those who worked hard and gave of themselves during Holy Week. He also thanked all the donors from the parishioners and expatriates who contributed to the restoration of the new edifice, asking God to bless their sacrifices and offerings.
At the end of the mass, everyone headed to the church hall, after the celebration of the Resurrection, to congratulate them on the holiday.
