38 children receive the sacrament of ceremonial communion at the Church of Our Lady of Deliverance in Zeidel
To the sound of spiritual hymns and Syriac melodies, and in an atmosphere of reverence, 38 children from the parish of Our Lady of Deliverance Zeidal Church, residents and expatriates, came forward to receive the sacrament of ceremonial communion, in a mass presided over by Bishop Mar Julian Yacoub Murad, with the participation of Bishop Mar Flapianos Rami Kabalan, the parish priest, Father Hamid Massouh, and the priests of the diocese.
This church celebration was preceded by a preparation stage that made the children realize the greatness, prestige and sanctity of accepting “the body and blood of Christ” and to live the sacrament of repentance and reconciliation in a conscious way. In this context, Bishop Murad thanked in his sermon the parish priest, the Christian education educator, and everyone who contributed to raising the children on the principles of Christian education. He addressed the parents who bear the responsibility of education and livelihood in light of the difficult circumstances, calling on them and their children to commit to the life of the Church.
He also addressed the children with a spontaneous dialogue about their Christian faith and their knowledge of Jesus, who first loved us and gave us his life, and we, in turn, must have a full desire for Jesus to live in us through the sacrament of Communion.
He called on the children to strive to be children of the Kingdom in love, goodness, free giving without discrimination, faithfulness in their relationship with the Lord, commitment to education, and participation in the Divine Mass every Sunday.
After renewing the dates of baptism, the acts of faith, hope, love, and the act of repentance, Bishop Murad granted the children the sacrament of Communion. At the end, souvenirs were distributed to all participants.
