The bishop and priests of the diocese congratulate the daughter of the Syriac Church, Minister Diala Barakat

The Bishop of the Syriac Catholic Diocese of Homs, Hama, Nabk, Bishop Mar Yulian Yacoub Mourad, accompanied by the priests of the diocese, visited Her Excellency Dr. Diala Issa Barakat to congratulate her on her appointment as the Minister of Culture in the new Syrian government.

Bishop Mourad praised the new government formation in Syria, considering it a sign of hope and a ray of light amid the difficult reality the region is facing.

He emphasized Minister Barakat’s distinguished stances throughout her life in various fields, commending her serious commitment and her strong sense of belonging in the area she has dedicated herself to.

During the meeting, there was an affirmation of the importance of culture in building individuals, who in turn build life and protect nations. They also highlighted the role of culture in fostering brotherhood, openness, and bridges of dialogue toward everything and everyone that is good, as well as in establishing peace.

The meeting concluded with well-wishes for the Syriac Church’s daughter, a member of the diocese, and for the new government, hoping for success and prosperity in their valuable mission to serve the causes of good, truth, and beauty.
